This annual award recognises Singapore-listed companies that have done better than their industry sector peers in three key metrics: returns to shareholders, growth in profit after tax and, last but not least, weighted return on equity.
“Over the past few months, the Singapore market has reached a level not seen for 16 years. Part of the growth was due to the prospects of rate cuts in the US. A bigger reason is the optimism that the review group formed by the authorities will come up with sound ways to make the Singapore market livelier,” says Cowie Tan, CMO of The Edge Singapore.
“By organising the BDC, The Edge Singapore aims to turn the spotlight on companies that have outperformed their peers and be a shining example for others to emulate, and help them draw more deserving attention from the investment community,” says Tan.

Winners in the BDC are those with a market cap that is above $1 billion while the Centurion Club recognises companies with a market value of between $100 million and $1 billion.
In recognition of the critical importance of sustainability, ESG metrics provided by Morningstar Sustainalytics were included in the scoring to determine the BDC winners.
Drawing upon the SGX Group’s classification, there are a total of 10 sectors represented in the BDC and Centurion Club.

While the award is organised every year, the winners are measured based on their performance achieved in the three preceding financial years. By doing so, consistent performance throughout the years can be better taken into account instead of year-by-year changes.
This year's top BDC winner is DBS Group Holdings, a distinguished leader in the banking sector, renowned for its innovative approach and commitment to excellence.
Notably, it is the first top performer to achieve a clean streak among the Super Big Cap Companies, which represent the top 10% of market capitalisation.
The Centurion Club is led by Cortina C41 Holdings, which has expertly capitalised on strong earnings growth amid a surge in demand for luxury timepieces over the past few years.
Leading local property firm City Developments Limited C09 has been honoured with the Best ESG Risk Ratings award for a second time, acknowledging its exceptional efforts in sustainable business strategy.
