Ng Chee Khern, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Manpower, has taken up a second listed company board role in less than a month.
SIA Engineering says 59-year-old Ng has been named a non-executive, independent director. The appointment of Ng, a retired two-star major general, will take effect on Feb 1.
Ng, who served as chief of Singapore's air force between 2006 and 2009, will be a member of SIA Engineering's audit committee and the technology advisory committee.
Earlier on Dec 16, Hong Leong Asia named Ng a non-executive, independent director. His appointment at the building materials and machinery company took effect on Jan 1.
"Mr Ng has extensive experience in building long-lasting systems, sustainable governance, and strong people-to-people networks nationally and internationally," says SIA Engineering on Jan 14.
"He has a proven track record in assessing regional and international affairs, and implementing national initiatives in security, digital, and workforce transformation.

"Mr Ng's broad expertise and experience will enhance the core competencies and diversity of skills of the current board," the company adds.
Ng is no stranger to listed entities. He previously served as a director of CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust .
SIA Engineering shares closed unchanged at $2.33 on Jan 14 while Hong Leong Asia shares closed at 93 cents.
