TOTM Technologies has announced securing a project with an aggregate value of US$5.4 million ($7.6 million) to supply biometric identification systems integrated with the National ID database to one of the law enforcement agencies in Indonesia.

The project involves the provision of a strategic digital data identification system which will be integrated with the National ID database to increase the efficiency for law enforcement purposes.

This solution empowers the agency to significantly improve the identification speed and accuracy leveraging the technology and foundational biometric National ID of the country. For this purpose, Totm Technologies will source and procure the required hardware and software and integrate the subsystems into a comprehensive solution for the end customer.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 and will contribute positively to the company’s FY2023 performance, it says in a press release.

The Ministry of National Development Planning of Indonesia has identified digital transformation as a key pillar that the government must focus on in 2021 to ensure effective public service and governance.

Identity management solutions tapping on the National ID database will be able to vastly improve efficiency and productivity, reduce redundancies and reform public service delivery so that government e-services can be assessed by citizens safely.

This bodes well for Totm Technologies with its proven track record in the deployment and maintenance of the biometric National ID system in Indonesia, which currently has over 200 million enrolled citizens.

“With foundational infrastructure like the National ID database already in place, it will be easier and expeditious to roll out functional applications with identity management biometric technology solutions to be deployed for other government agencies as well as the private sector,” Prunier explains.

“There are a wide range of use cases — such as offline verification for border management, authentication for healthcare services etc. that are very much needed. We’ve taken a ground-up approach to be able to give enterprise customers a fully automated verification system with the ability to support government services without expensive and dedicated on-premises infrastructure,” he adds.

Share in Totm Technologies closed 0.7 cents or 5.47% up at 13.5 cents on Oct 19.
