Temasek Polytechnic is now offering a programme to train graph technology talent in Singapore, with the help of graph data platform provider Neo4j.

Called Graphs4SG, the programme will offer curated courses on open-source graph databases and graph data science developed by seasoned Neo4j graph technology experts.

Students will receive hands-on and customised training across various learning stages – available both in-person and online – with a mixture of text content, videos, webinars, and code challenges.

Upon completion, students will receive official certification from Neo4j’s GraphAcademy online training programme and Temasek Polytechnic.

Temasek Polytechnic expects to train 200 students in graph technologies by the end of 2025.

Graph technologies will be used in 80% of data and analytics innovations by 2025, according to Gartner. This surge is driven by graph technologies’ unique capability to harness critical context and relationships between and across data necessary for analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning applications to deliver more accurate predictions, insights, and holistic visibility for data.

Equipping students with graph technology experience could help boost Singapore’s economic growth across the financial, healthcare, logistics, environmental, and government sectors. The Robert Walters Salary Survey 2022 found that data scientists or engineers are the leading tech roles in demand, with 85% of Singapore firms offering salary increases to lure top talent in the tech and transformation industry.

“There is a growing demand for graph-skilled professionals in Singapore and the wider Asia Pacific region to support the business requirements of organisations seeking to solve their biggest data challenges at scale,” says Nik Vora, vice president for Asia Pacific at Neo4j.

He continues: “Our partnership with Temasek Polytechnic is curated to help students learn about graph data platforms and their practical application, preparing them for future careers in the field. The Graphs4SG programme is specially designed for Singapore so students can expect a more agile curriculum, with access to an extensive collection of resources created by graph technology experts.”

Graphs4SG builds on Neo4j’s Graphs4APAC initiative, which was launched in 2021 to give back to Asia Pacific community stakeholders by making the latest mission-critical graph technology, tools, materials, and training free and accessible and integrative as part of students’ core engineering and business training.

Graphs4APAC also provides ongoing support to help community members address their business requirements.

Neo4j’s collaboration with Temasek Polytechnic is the first of several planned partnerships with tertiary institutions in Singapore to equip students with the market-leading graph technology to support the national digital economy.
