SINGAPORE (June 3): Policy measures undertaken by governments and central banks may not have their desired effect to mitigate the economic impact of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, warns BNP Paribas.

The staggered nature of policy, it says, creates potential “cliff edge” effects on activity and employment.

This is compounded by the weak sentiment weighed by uncertain future support amid lower revenues, it adds.
