This season, two standout brands are Philippe Starck and Barber & Osgerby—renowned designers who have brought a refreshing perspective to furniture design.

Philippe Starck
Philippe Starck is a towering figure in the furniture industry, leaving an indelible mark across a wide spectrum of household products, furniture pieces, interior projects, and hotels. For 2024, Starck has envisioned a unique seating collection for Cassina, marking his 30th anniversary of collaboration with the brand. To celebrate this milestone, he has designed an elegant and eclectic collection for the bedroom, including a bed, a family of armchairs and ottomans, as well as a rug. 

Among these, the 'Somewhere EL-S' seating collection truly stands out. This seating system is crafted using haute couture techniques, characterized by distinctive tailoring reminiscent of luxurious handbags and suitcases. It is offered in three sizes: an armchair and three different ottoman sizes. The collection’s impressive saddlery work, striking metal embellishments, and captivating patterned upholstery create a visual appeal that is genuinely inspiring.

Barber & Osgerby
While they may not be as widely recognized, the British design duo Barber & Osgerby has made significant contributions to the design world. From designing the 2012 Olympic Torch to creating vibrant, industrial-inspired luggage for Rimowa, their versatility is remarkable. Their work in furniture design is equally celebrated. 

For Vitra, Barber & Osgerby created the 'Mikado' dining chair, establishing a new archetype for the Swiss-based furniture company. The chair features a unique backward-tilt movement enabled by a mechanism hidden beneath the seat, facilitating seamless transitions between engagement and relaxation. Additionally, the chair’s compact design and removable covers for easy cleaning or replacement further exemplify the duo’s innovative approach to furniture design.
