SINGAPORE (June 25): The 1962 water agreement between Singapore and Malaysia is a fundamental agreement that was guaranteed by both governments in the 1965 separation agreement which was registered with the United Nations.

And both sides must comply fully with all the provisions of the agreements, said a spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The reply was made in response to media queries on Malaysia's Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's comments to Bloomberg.
