SINGAPORE (Aug 23): Changi Airport Group announced Friday that 5.91 million passengers passed through the airport in July, some 3.3% more than in the same period last year.
This was also 1.7% q-o-q higher than the 5.8 million passenger movements in June.
This brings Changi’s total passenger movements so far this year up to July to 39.1 million, as the airport remains on track to surpass last year’s figures.
In 2018, Changi reported some 65.6 million passenger movements for the full year.
However, aircraft movements dipped 1% to 32,400 landings and takeoffs, while airfreight throughput declined 7.2% to 170,000 tonnes for the month.
The group says South Asia was the only region that failed to record growth in July, led by a decline in traffic to India.
Meanwhile, Germany, Korea, New Zealand and the US were among the top markets that registered double digit growth.
Among Changi’s top routes, Shanghai and Brisbane were the fastest growing, with both markets registering figures 12% higher than a year ago.
