Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines C6L

(SIA), launched operations for its first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft with flights to Krabi and Hat Yai on May 7. Part of the airline’s new Embraer line of jets, the aircraft represents one of the nine aircrafts that are being delivered from now till the end of 2025.

Currently holding the title for the industry’s quietest and most fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft, the interior of the E190-E2 aircraft includes 112 seats in a two by two single class configuration. The aircraft also features a standard seat pitch of 29 inches, and larger cabin windows.

Designed for short-to-medium range operations, the E2 series of Embraer jets provide access to new routes to smaller growing markets, enhancing Scoot’s network connectivity and strengthening its presence in the region.

“We are confident that with this new-generation aircraft, we will continue to strengthen our presence in the region, enhance our connectivity to non-metro destinations and provide our customers with even more memorable travel experiences,” says Leslie Thng, Scoot’s chief executive officer at the launch event held at Changi Airport Terminal 1.

“This fleet is a testament to the Singapore Airlines Group’s foresight in planning for growth and future expansion, even as we emerged from the depths of the pandemic,” adds transport minister Chee Hong Tat.

Chee also noted that this expansion of Singapore’s aviation network into the region will allow it to better serve and meet rapidly growing demand in the South-east Asian market.

Scoot currently covers flights to 67 destinations across 15 countries and territories in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Europe.
