The Singapore Airlines C6L (SIA) Group says that its passenger traffic rose 7.2% y-o-y for the month of June, while passenger capacity increased by 11%.
During the month, SIA and its budget subsidiary Scoot carried nearly 3.2 million passengers in total, 9.7% higher y-o-y.
The group passenger load factor (PLF) was 87.4%, with SIA and Scoot posting monthly PLFs of 87.1% and 88.7% respectively.
“The demand for air travel remained robust across all route regions in June 2024, supported by the mid-year school holidays in Singapore and the summer travel season,” notes a release by SIA Group.
Meanwhile, cargo operations had a load factor of 58% for the month of June, 6.4 percentage points higher than the year before. This number increased 24.9% y-o-y on the back of robust e-commerce demand, some demand spillover resulting from disruptions to sea freight, and port congestion, says the group.
During the month, SIA and Scoot launched new services to London (Gatwick) and Sibu respectively.
