Passenger traffic for Singapore Airlines C6L (SIA) as a group rose by 3.6% y-o-y to 12.7 billion for the month of July while passenger capacity increased by 8.7%.
The group’s airlines, flag carrier SIA and its budget airline Scoot carried a total of 3.2 million passengers in July, 6.7% higher y-o-y.
Group passenger load factor (PLF) stood at 85.6% with SIA’s PLF of 84.7% in July and Scoot’s PLF of 88.9%.
Due to the substantial capacity expansion in North Asia, SIA saw lower load factors in its East Asian routes.
Meanwhile, cargo loads rose by 18.5% y-o-y due to robust e-commerce demand as well as some spillover in demand due to sea freight disruptions and port congestions. This outpaced the capacity expansion of 8.2%, says the group.
As a result, cargo load factor came in at 57.4%, 5 percentage points higher y-o-y.
