DBS Group has appointed Rachel Chew as its group cash product management head with effect from Nov 1.

The move comes as the bank seeks to build on its digital leadership in the transaction banking business.

Chew comes with over 20 years of experience in the digital business and product development. In her previous role, Chew led the bank’s digital banking teams in India and Indonesia.

In her new role, she will lead DBS’s regional cash product management team, which forms part of the bank’s global transaction services (GTS) unit.

Her immediate priority will be to shape and execute on the bank’s cash product proposition in Asia and lead the strategy and expansion of the bank’s cash management franchise across existing and new markets.

Rachel will report to Raof Latiff, who oversees the bank’s digital strategies and solutions across its Institutional Banking business.

“The need for digitalisation is even more apparent today with digital solutions forming the backbone of businesses and industries as they operate in an environment characterised by prolonged travel and trade restrictions,” says Latiff.

“With the global reset, it is also timely for new leaders like Rachel who are well versed with digital technologies to be given the opportunity to lead and provide fresh perspectives to enhance the resilience of our strategic blueprint as we step into the next normal,” he adds.

As at 11.42am, shares in DBS are trading 18 cents higher or 0.9% up at $20.53.
