SINGAPORE (June 4): Civmec, the construction and engineering services provider headquartered in Australia, will be building its latest facility development at Henderson, Western Australia.

Civmec’s defence and infrastructure division has committed to a long-term lease to the Western Australian government’s vision for the Australian Marine Complex (AMC). It will also manage the construction of a multimillion-dollar new Submarine Rescue Service facility.

The facility, which will be operated by Phoenix International under a sub-lease arrangement with Civmec, will be constructed to house a rapid launch and recovery system, hyperbaric treatment unit, and maintenance training and testing infrastructure with a 7-metre deep pool.

The facility will be located close to the AMC’s Common User Facility (CUF) at Henderson, with proximity to the CUF enabling rapid mobilisation in the event of a disabled submarine in the region.

“The AMC’s growing capacity to support [the] Australian Defence Force (ADF)’s operations through construction and sustainment, will provide long-term employment opportunities. We are very proud to have been be at the forefront of this, and now again through the provision of this new purpose-built submarine rescue facility here on our door step at the AMC in Henderson, Western Australia” says Pat Tallon, CEO of Civmec.

Civmec shares closed flat at 35 cents on Thursday prior to the announcement.
