Sembcorp Industries U96

says it has commenced a process to explore the potential divestment of its waste management business and its energy from the waste plant.

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) has been appointed as the company’s financial advisor.

“Sembcorp wishes to emphasise that the discussions are still preliminary, no definitive transaction has been entered into by Sembcorp in respect of such potential divestment with any party, and there is no certainty that any transaction will materialise,” says the company via a statement issued on June 5.

Shares in Sembcorp closed at $5.19 on June 1.
