Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) says it has resumed operations of Sembcorp Myingyan Independent Power Plant in Mandalay, Myanmar, following the temporary suspension previously announced on Aug 12.

Sembcorp had suspended the plant owing to conflicts in the vicinity. In an Aug 23 announcement, Sembcorp says those conflicts have ceased. “The situation is now assessed to be safe for Sembcorp’s personnel to return to the plant.”

The date to resume operations has been aligned with Myanmar’s state-owned Electric Power Generation Enterprise.

Sembcorp says it will continue to closely monitor the situation, with the safety of its personnel as its utmost priority.

The temporary suspension has no material impact on the earnings per share and net tangible assets per share of Sembcorp for the financial year ending Dec 31.

Shares in Sembcorp closed 1 cent lower, or 0.21% down, at $4.75.
