Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) has announced that its urban solutions business will be deploying its smart water platform for Aegea, a private sanitation company in Brazil that provides services to over 500 municipalities.
In its announcement dated Oct 28, ST Engineering notes that the smart water platform is scheduled to be operational by end 2024 and will digitally integrate water meter infrastructure across Aegea’s concessions.
The platform is built on a cloud-based meter data management system that collects, stores and manages data, enabling automated, end-to-end monitoring and control of Aegea’s entire water metering infrastructure.
The platform will also deliver real-time alerts, water consumption trend analysis and water optimisation insights to help Aegea unlock new efficiencies in water management.
Gareth Tang, head of smart utilities and infrastructure, urban solutions at ST Engineering says the group’s partnership with Aegea “comes at a crucial time as water demands increase, driven by rapid urbanisation, dwindling water resources and climate change.”
“This collaboration plays a vital role in addressing Brazil’s urgent need for better water management to strengthen water resilience. It also underscores our commitment to leverage technology to enable sustainable urban living and improve quality of life,” he adds.
