Standard Chartered Private Bank has announced key hires in Singapore as part of its efforts to build up its private banking capabilities.

Nicholas Cheng has been appointed as managing director, head of private markets group, and is set to report to Foo Tian Ong, regional head of private banking in Southeast Asia, and Singapore location head. 

Cheng has three decades of experience in the field, building his career in product origination and distribution in private and public markets in Asia across Asian and European banks. He most recently has focused on strategic advisory to C-suite as well as franchise building together with ultra-high-net worth (UHNW) and institutional limited partnerships. 

Meanwhile, Hedi Dorai joined the bank in June as executive director and relationship manager. Reporting to Vijai Krovvidi, market head of private banking and global south asian clients, Dorai has over 20 years’ experience, having worked in leading private banks including most recently at Credit Suisse. He has a track record in investment advisory and portfolio management for high-net worth (HNW) and UHNW clients in Asia, Middle East and Europe.

Au Soo Leng and Angelina Wee have joined as executive director and relationship manager, reporting to team lead Andy Chua and Gregory Wong, respectively. Both have decades worth of experience in private banking. 

Royston Ow Yong has been appointed as managing director and team lead with 25 years of experience in private banking and building relationships with UHNW clients in Indonesia and Singapore.

Additional hires include Hong Shuqin and Gabriel Goh as director, relationship manager and associate direct, relationship manager, respectively. Hong brings 20 years of experience in client relationship management, while Goh has over 15 years of private banking experience.

Lastly, reporting to Foo, Sarah Lim is set to join from UBS as head of investment advisory, to lead the Asean and Greater China Investment Advisory team based in Singapore.
