The land border between Singapore and Malaysia might reopen in a few weeks' time under a "Vaccinated Travel Lane-like arrangement", said trade and industry minister Gan Kim Yong.
Discussions with Malaysia, are going on well, he added.
"Singapore and Malaysia share close ties, especially among our people," said Gan.
Prior to the pandemic, the Woodlands Causeway was the busiest border crossing in the world, with more than 400,000 people making the daily commute to and fro.
The crossings became devoided of the usual non-stop bustling traffic on March 18 last year, to curb the spread of the pandemic.
Other than cargo trucks that are able to continue their movements, the hundreds of thousands of daily commuters got to stay put.

The government's update came just a week after the announcement that a so-called vaccinated travel lane, or VTL between Changi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport will start from Nov 29 onwards.
The possibility of reopening the land border was already floated last week.
