SMI Vantage (previously Singapore Myanmar Investco) has begun the installation of cryptocurrency machines in Melaka, Malaysia.

The Mainboard-listed company adds that it is on track to complete the installation of 3,100 cryptocurrency mining machines in two locations in Southeast Asia by the end of May.

In January 2022, SMI Vantage had entered into an agreement with Hatten Edge to install cryptocurrency mining machines in a mining data centre in Melaka.

Hatten Edge is the subsidiary of Catalist-listed Hatten Land.

SMI Vantage will hold its extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on April 19 for its proposed business diversification to include cryptocurrency mining.

Shares in SMI Vantage closed 0.2 cent lower or 3.33% down at 5.8 cents on March 30.
