Biolidics has been affected by a cybersecurity incident after its payroll software vendor was hacked by a group calling itself "GHOSTR".
A string of other listed companies were affected by various cybersecurity incidents over the past few months.
According to Biolidics 8YY , the action caused a system downtime in the software application and unauthorised access of personal data of its current and former employees and directors.
"The company took steps to contain the situation by working closely with the vendor and as at the date of this announcement, the vendor has restored the application.
Biolidics has reported the matter to the police and the Personal Data Protection Commission.
Biolidics claims the hacker tried to extort US$3,000 to be paid in bitcoins but the attempt failed. It has similarly reported this incident to the police.

The company will be conducting a review of the incident to ensure that the data that is entrusted to the vendor remains safe and secure. Biolidics did not disclose the name of the vendor.
Biolidics shares closed at one cent on May 9, down 9.09% for the day, unchanged year to date.
