China Yuchai, a subsidiary of Hong Leong Asia H22

, has appointed Wong Hong Wai as a director of the company with effect from March 1. With Wong’s appointment, the board now has 10 members of which three are independent directors.

Wong comes with over 35 years of working experience in several countries such as China, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the US. He is currently an innovation advisor with Innovation Partner for Impact, a subsidiary of Enterprise Singapore. Wong is also an associate faculty member with the Singapore Institute of Technology.

Wong also held a position at General Motors (GM) previously with experience in areas such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), new business development, strategic alliance management and more.

Prior to GM, he was also at the Economic Development Board (EDB) and was responsible for investment marketing and development of several industry clusters such as aerospace, marine and oilfield equipment, process engineering and automotive component manufacturing.

Shares in Hong Leong Asia closed 0.5 cent lower or 0.73% down at 68.5 cents on Feb 22.
