Maybank Singapore has appointed Datuk Yee Yang Chien as the chairman of its board. Yee will take up his position with effect from Oct 1.
He will succeed Datuk R. Karunakaran, who retired as chairman on Sept 30. Karunakaran was chairman for six years.
Yee was appointed as a non-independent non-executive director of Maybank on Nov 24, 2023. He was then named a non-independent non-executive director of Maybank Singapore on Aug 15.
Yee’s career spans several decades in local and international financial institutions, with a career spanning external and internal audit, equity research and investment banking. His career includes 20 years at shipping conglomerate MISC Berhad. He retired as the president and group CEO of MISC in September 2022.
