Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong will be appointed to the GIC board with effect from Oct 1.

Gan, who became one of Singapore’s two DPMs in May this year, was also appointed as the chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). His term as MAS chair began on May 15 and will end on May 31, 2026.

In addition to his roles, Gan is responsible for the strategy group in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and is a member of the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council and the National Research Foundation board.

“I am delighted to welcome Mr Gan to the GIC board. His wide-ranging experience will add valuable insights to important asset allocation and other strategic decisions. We look forward to Mr Gan’s contributions as a director on the GIC board,” says Lim Chow Kiat, CEO of GIC.
