City Developments Limited (CDL) has been named the most sustainable company in real estate and in Singapore by Global 100.

The accolade was announced virtually on Jan 25 at the 17th Annual Global 100 Launch.

CDL takes 40th place on the 2021 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World.

The group is the first and only Singapore company to be included in Global 100, which is one of the world’s leading sustainability indices.

It has been included in Global 100’s Most Sustainable Corporations in the World ranking for 12 consecutive years since 2010, and has held the position of Singapore’s most sustainable company for the third year running.

CDL, along with the rest of the companies who were included in 2021’s ranking, were chosen out of 8,080 companies with over US$1 billion ($1.33 billion) in revenues.

On the award, CDL Group CEO Sherman Kwek says, “We are grateful to be ranked as the world’s top real estate company and top Singapore company by Corporate Knights once again, which honours our unwavering dedication to scale up in the race to net-zero and low-carbon operations.”

“In spite of a challenging year in 2020, ESG integration has remained a fundamental aspect of our business strategy and we will continue to drive sustainability to build resilience for a greener and healthier recovery,” he adds.

As at 2.28pm, shares in CDL are trading 3 cents lower or 0.4% down at $7.48.
