The Incubation Network, an impact-driven initiative, has rolled out a programme to fast-track solutions for plastic waste and circularity challenges.

Dubbed PXCC (Plastics X Circularity Curriculum), the programme will be extended to pre-seed and seed-stage start-ups in South and Southeast Asia.

It comprises 31 sub-modules that can be done across nine learning domains. Participating start-ups will also have mentorship and cross-learning from industry experts within The Incubation Network.

PXCC was developed in partnership with global impact investment advisory firm Sagana and The Circulate Initiative.

Simon Baldwin, director at The Incubation Network says the programme “is an example of the tools that are needed to help high-potential entrepreneurs succeed”.

Such tools are needed since much of the 11 million metric tonnes of plastic waste entering oceans come from South and Southeast Asia.

The business model of the circular economy comprises of structured systems that prioritise the restoration or regeneration of resources. It also looks to counter conventional linear business models that are structured to take, make and waste resources.

“By developing comprehensive learning resources to support entrepreneurs in the sector, we can fuel their growth and accelerate the implementation of both short-term and long-term solutions towards a circular plastic waste management system in the region,” adds Baldwin who wears another hat as Global Head of Circularity for SecondMuse.
