SINGAPORE (June 17): Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) announced Wednesday that its smart lighting solution and on-demand autonomous buses have been recognised as winning solutions for its customers at the IDC Smart City Asia Pacific Awards (SCAPA) 2020.

The awards recognise the top Smart City initiatives that utilise leading-edge digital technologies and solutions that enable rapid transformation across cities in the Asia Pacific region (sans Japan).

Of the 19 awards presented this year, Singapore bagged three, out of which, two of the winning projects were from ST Engineering's technologies.

The winning solutions in smart lighting and on-demand autonomous buses are provided to the Housing & Development Board (HDB), as well as the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) respectively.

“Urban mobility, energy efficiency, and sustainability continue to be pressing challenges that Singapore and many other cities around the world face. Apart from advancing Singapore's Smart City ambitions, our technology expertise and global track record are helping our customers address these urban challenges and improve quality of life for their communities, says Chew Men Leong, chief marketing officer at ST Engineering.

“These wins will continue to spur us to leverage the latest technologies to develop innovations that enable the way forward to smarter, more liveable and sustainable cities of the future,” he adds.

Shares in ST Engineering closed 2 cents higher, or 0.6% up, at $3.45.
