Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has broken ground on its new waterfront lifestyle development. The event on Nov 15 was officiated by guest of honour Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, and Culture, Community and Youth.
Targeted to open by 2030, the waterfront development is set to redefine luxury and lifestyle for both new and returning guests. This transformation in RWS will rejuvenate the Greater Southern Waterfront and further strengthen its appeal as a premium lifestyle destination resort for locals and tourists.
Minister Tan says: “The new waterfront lifestyle development is a key feature of RWS’ expansion and exciting new addition to Singapore’s vibrant tourism landscape.”
The new waterfront development will feature a waterfront promenade, a four-storey world-class retail and dining podium with entertainment offerings, as well as two new luxury hotels featuring 700 keys. The two new hotels will complement RWS’ current repertoire of six premier hotels.
Designed by architectural firm Benoy, the development will also include an immersive, experiential mountain trail.
The heart of the new waterfront development will be further anchored by a sculpture that is envisioned in collaboration with architecture firm Heatherwick Studio.

The way Tan sees it, the waterfront development will contribute to Singapore’s tourism success story and RWS’ growth will provide a purpose to bring in tourists, as well as locals, to come together. These efforts will rejuvenate the local tourism offerings, keeping Singapore ahead of the competition and contribute to the country’s growing and vibrant tourism landscape.
It is not just RWS that is pumping in money to refresh its integrated resort (IR), Marina Bay Sands (MBS), Singapore’s second (IR) too has announced a US$1.7 billion reinvestment to refresh its three hotel towers and adding additional 1,850 keys. MBS has also recently announced a further US$8 billion expansion, which will see a fourth tower that will include more hotel rooms, event spaces, F&B offerings and more. The development of the fourth tower is slated to start in July 2025.
