SINGAPORE (April 8): Zhu Yilong, the new brand ambassador for prestigious timepiece brand Chopard, was at the Baselworld watch and jewellery fair to get an insight into the brand’s DNA. At the fair, held on March 20 and 21 in Switzerland, the Chinese actor wore the L.U.C GMT One, which features a dual-time function built into the movement. Only fine watchmaking finishing techniques are applied to the movement. An example is the chamfered bridges that are adorned with the Côtes de Genève — an intricate pattern achieved by skilled craftsmen.
Zhu made his debut in the 2009 film Zai Sheng Yuan as an assassin. He will soon be seen in modern drama My True Friend and will play Wu Xie in an adaptation of Daomu Biji.
Flights from Helsinki to Los Angeles just got a little more stylish. Finnish design house Marimekko has tied up with Finnair to produce designer items — amenity kits, eyeshades and cutlery — for the latter’s business class flights. Finnair plans to introduce two new designs at a time and the changes will be as frequent as every six months.

The new Santos de Cartier stays true to the original philosophy of its creators in 1904, yet boasts a distinctive aesthetic that symbolises the modern era. Lab results
In Corum’s limited-edition Lab collection, mechanics takes precedence. The Heritage Corum Lab 01 timepieces are imbued with a racing, sculptural, technical and modern spirit. The first two models released in the collection feature a barrel-shaped case made entirely of black DLC. The calibre that drives these pieces is a “shape movement” that has been made to measure for the case, one moulding gently into the contours of the other. The dials come in grey anthracite enhanced with either red or white details, depending on the version. Enthusiasts will also note the microrotor, visible from the dial side, featuring a contemporary spiral finish to accentuate the “speed” effect when it begins to rotate. Limited to 99 pieces.
