Chopard co-president and creative director Caroline Scheufele wins award at annual MAISON-DE-MODE.COM
SINGAPORE (Mar 4): Held in Los Angeles on Feb 23, the MAISON - DEMODE. COM Sustainable Style Gala saw Caroline Scheufele collect the Designer of the Year award in recognition of her pioneering programme, The Journey to Sustainable Luxury. The goal of this programme, which began in 2013, was to improve the environment and lives of those at the very beginning of the supply chain, in partnership with South America’s most influential mining NGO, the Alliance for Responsible Mining. Because of Scheufele’s efforts, Chopard achieved a 100% ethical gold supply chain.

At the gala, the industry also celebrated conservation icon Jane Goodall, who received the Sustainable Style Award for her groundbreaking work in the field of sustainability. At the event, sustainable leaders came together, alongside other inspiring people from around the world, to celebrate sustainability in the fashion industry. Guests included Petra Nemcova, Karolina Kurkova, Angela Lindvall, Mena Suvari, Tori Praver, Nadja Swarowski, Maye Musk and Lydia Hearst.
Balm for the lips
Anna Sui is all set to welcome Easter with the Dolly Easter Egg lip balm. Each egg-shaped tin contains coloured lip balm made with a combination of high-viscosity oil and sparkling shiny oil. The balm is less sticky and ensures a long-lasting, colour-stay finish. Apply by using a lip brush or fingertip.
Space and time
The Arceau L’ Heure de la Lune by Hermes takes us on a theatrical journey of space and time. This horological complication features two mobile counters displaying the time and date that turn weightlessly to reveal the moon discs — a module exclusively developed for Hermes. A patent has already been filed. These displays have swapped cardinal points, with the south above and the north below — a confusing direction that makes us lose our bearings, hence an invitation to get lost in space and time. The watch is 4.2mm thick and incorporates 117 polished and bead-blasted components. It is powered by the Manufacture Hermes H1837 movement and available in only 100 pieces. There is a choice of either a fitted or matt alligator strap in graphite grey or abyss blue.
Get an earful
Apple’s AirPods, which use optical sensors and a motion accelerometer to detect when they are in your ears, are all the rage now. Enjoy their userfriendly and sophisticated features.
The Classique returns
The Breguet Classique 5177 Grand Feu Blue Enamel returns with an update — the blued hands are transposed onto the dial to give it a deep blue grand feu enamel. Blue is special to Breguet and the shade was achieved through extensive research. When the desired pigmentation is achieved, the colour is stabilised with a firing of 800˚C — necessary to create a grand feu enamel with a unique grain.
Powered by the self-winding 777Q mechanical caliber, the Classique 5177 Grand Feu Blue Enamel model has the central second hand and date at three o'clock. The self-winding movement can be seen through the sapphire crystal caseback. Each component is delicately finished by the craftsmen of the Breguet Manufacture using techniques such as chamfering, circular graining and brushing, or with the Cotes de Geneve motif.
Stay calm and drive on
