Touch of Dutch mastery
From the Netherlands comes Grönefeld, a watch brand started by brothers Bart and Tim Grönefeld in 1998. This year, the company has launched the 1941 Decennium Tourbillon (the number refers to the year their father was born), which has an automatic movement fitted with a 22-carat solid red gold monobloc rotor (main image). Other design elements include the stainless-steel bridges that replicate the façade of Dutch houses, termed “bell gables”. The cage of the flying tourbillon in stainless steel is made without an upper bridge.

The unexpected success of Star Wars’ cinematic debut in 1977 changed the face of film forever. Equal parts fairy tale, sci-fi adventure and 1930s movie serial, the rousing space opera smashed all box-office records, becoming a cultural phenomenon worldwide and spawning one of the most successful movie franchises of all time. In collaboration with The Walt Disney Co Southeast Asia, Malaysian pewter manufacturer and retailer Royal Selangor pays homage to this milestone in cinematic history. Iconic characters, representing opposing forces from Star Wars Episodes IV, V and VI, face each other across a chessboard of tempered glass, capped by satin finish pewter feet. The embattled Rebel Alliance faces down its menacing Imperial counterparts as pewter chess pieces, enhanced by sleek bonded porcelain plinths in cool grey and matte black respectively
