L’Ombre des Merveilles is a new fragrance by Hermès that seeks to find a contrast between light and shade. To do this, the ‘nose’ Chrisitine Nagel continues on her success of Eau des Merveilles Bleue and goes in search of the shadow of wonders in this new fragrance. To do this she uses a swirl of incense to break up the lightness while the tonka bean amplifies it and a pinch of black tea outlines the wood and reveals other lights. The result is a captivating scent with shadows that highlight the deep radiance of the world. The rocking bottle — which is flat on one side and rounded on the other — is created by Serge Mansau. The spray nozzle is engraved with the Hermès saddle nail seal — a tribute to its equestrian roots.

Created for the tropics

Designed in Singapore and responsibly made with premium technical fabrics, Tropick gives new meaning to menswear collection. Created by TaFF (Textile and Fashion Federation) and TBFI (The Bridge Fashion Incubator) program graduate Monica Millington, the collection is aimed at providing freedom from the usual when it comes to men’s shirts. Hence, the No Sweat Shirt ($198) is born and it ticks all the boxes that every man needs: It has technology and performance attributes of athletic wear, is suitable for our climate, cosmopolitan city life and the new work-from-home style. The shirts are crafted from a carefully balanced blend of nylon and elastane, allowing the wearer to sweat and stretch comfortably in an easy-to-wear, modern cut that transcends agenda or seasons. Tropick is available at tropick.com, OneOrchard.store, and on ShopBettr.com

Get your groove on

Space Cowboy is a range of eyewear collection by Gentle Monster that is a collaboration with Grammy-winning artist, producer and DJ Diplo. The collection features two aviator-style frames: The Lone Wolf and The Cub — both collections are made of lightweight premium titanium decorated with soft groove details and 100% UV protected detachable clip-on lenses in four eye-catching shades. The collection features adjustable dials for temple length customisation — a new approach to eyewear design by Gentle Monster.

That’s genius

Moncler works with Hiroshi Fujiwara to create the very first footwear collaboration between 7 Moncler Fragment and Converse. Fujiwara is known as one of the founding fathers of Tokyo’s Harajuku scene, he has great influence on contemporary design and streetwear culture. From this collaboration, the Converse Chuck 70 is born. The collection features two-tone black and white color-blocked executions. This collaboration is part of the Moncler Genius programme that gives a voice to personal creativity through a symposium where designers are invited to give their unique take on Moncler.

Rings and things

From Van Cleef & Arpels comes the Perlée collection of finely curved jewellery creations that bring together diamonds and gadrooned gold in a new ring. Gadroon is a design style that features a series of convex curves placed together. The highlight is the rounded ring fashioned in yellow, white and rose gold. Each piece features a body composed of gold gadroons that delicately embrace the finger for great comfort. The interplay of volume reaches a point at the crown of the piece, around a gold dome paved with diamonds of varying diameters intensifies the relief effect.

Fashion with a conscience

Ermenegildo Zegna celebrates its 110 years in the business this year and with this comes a reaffirmation to take environmental responsibility seriously and to commit to the natural world. This conversation continues through to the fall 2020 collection for men. It is not just the clothes but Zegna is asking the community to support their efforts by inviting people to become an active supporter of Oasi Zegna. All you need to do is buy an engraved wooden heart crafted from Italian trees, fallen naturally or cut down for security reasons, the wooden hearts symbolize the legacy and love for the land. Oasi is a park in Italy’s Piedmont, the hometown of Zegna where the founder planted more than 500,000 trees in the 1930s. Driven by a deep sense of giving back, his reforestation project transformed the landscape surrounding Ermenegildo Zegna wool mill into a 100 km2 nature reserve.

Rock the ruffles

From the fall/winter 2020 comes the XL Rock Ruffles bag by Valentino that is decorated with moulded maxi ruffles and metal eyelets on a removable and adjustable strap. The bag can be worn over the shoulder or cross body style. For an added design interest, the bag has a twist-lock closure, especially useful for those looking for a sense of security and originality.
