Singapore - Hot on the heels of the G 63 Singapore Edition – launched last year during the inauguration of the Mercedes-Benz Collectors Club in Singapore – comes the G 63 "Grand Edition", which was presented by Mercedes-Benz Singapore during a recent The Mercedes-Benz Collectors Club event.
Out of the limited run of one thousand units globally, just eight units of the "Grand Edition" Geländewagen (or G-Class) will be made available for the Singapore market.
The "Grand Edition" of Mercedes' cult off-road icon is finished in a Manufaktur night black magno with sublime Kalahari gold magno details, which create a tasteful contrast reminiscent of the John Player Special livery on historical F1 race-cars.
The gold accents feature in the inlays of the front and rear bumpers, front optical underride protection, Mercedes star in the spare wheel housing and spare wheel ring, with tech gold 22-inch AMG forged rims topping off the exterior visuals.

The stylish black and gold theme continues inside the cabin, as the the Manufaktur black nappa leather seats feature contrasting gold stitching, a combination that extends to even the floor-mats.

Other trim parts of the interior boast carbon with copper thread, so there's a coherent theme throughout the G 63, both inside and out.
Don't be fooled by its sartorial elegance, because with its turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 delivering 585hp and 850Nm, the G63 is endowed with brutish levels of performance to see-off all but the most committed challengers.
"Since its inauguration in 1979, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has established itself as an icon on- and off-road, delivering impeccable performance on every terrain. Today, we are proud to reveal the exclusive Mercedes-AMG G 63 "Grand Edition" in Singapore that has been made even more captivating and distinctive in this special release. This limited edition model reflects our commitment to creating the world's most desirable cars and introducing them to Singapore's discerning car owners and collectors," said Claudius Steinhoff, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Singapore.
Like the "Singapore Edition" of the Geländewagen, there's an accompanying IWC timepiece in a complementary black and gold combination to go with the "Grand Edition" – this 18-carat Armor Gold-clad Big Pilot's Watch AMG G 63 is sold separately through the IWC Schaffhausen boutique – with the white rings around the sub-seconds and power reserve dials (at 9 and 3 respectively) of the brand's iconic oversized Pilot's Watch inspired by the G-wagen's headlights.
Claudius adds, "We are also pleased that our long-time partner, IWC Schaffhausen, has joined us in debuting its special edition IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot's Watch AMG G 63, which was inspired by the design of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 "Grand Edition". The intersection between utilitarianism and functionality of the Big Pilot's Watch and the Mercedes-AMG G 63 is undeniable, and we are proud to work together with IWC Schaffhausen on yet another iconic launch."
