Omega is marking 25 years of the iconic Seamaster Diver 300M with a range of updated models — six in stainless steel and eight in a mix of stainless steel and gold. The original timepiece signalled Omega’s return to the world of diving watches and started the brand’s longstanding partnership with James Bond. Now a larger 42mm, each new Diver 300M has a Master Chronometer Calibre 8800, which takes the collection into a higher realm of precision, performance and magnetic resistance. The Seamaster Diver 300M Titanium Tantalum Limited Edition is released in 2,500 pieces. It pays tribute to an original 1993 design by using tantalum for the base of the bezel as well as the bracelet. The metal’s blue-grey tones offer a subtle contrast to the Grade 2 titanium and 18-carat Sedna gold used for the other features of the watch.
The maestro scores
Christophe Claret unveils the Maestro Mamba in 28 limited-edition pieces. A hand-engraved body of the venomous African mamba snake coils around the movement of each timepiece. It takes a skilled master craftsman to achieve this feat. In terms of horological complications, the 42mm Maestro Mamba features the patented large-date display at 5 o’clock that consists of two cones — one for the tens on the upper part and the other for the units. In 2009, Patek Philippe introduced the Ladies First Chronograph Ref 7071, which featured a chronograph movement (column wheel, horizontal clutch and manual winding) that was developed entirely in-house. This year, the Geneva manufacture has given this chronograph a totally new face. The round rose-gold case with a diameter of 38mm boasts a bezel set with 72 diamonds. The sleek design is emphasised by vintage-look details such as fluted and delicately curved strap lugs, round chronograph pushers with manually guillochéd faces and a gently cambered sapphire-crystal “box” glass. The new Ref 7150/250R-001 is the only chronograph in Patek Philippe’s collection for women and features a shiny mink-grey alligator leather strap secured with a rose-gold prong buckle that sparkles with 27 diamonds.
