Over the past four years, quiet luxury has established itself as a mainstay in menswear, eschewing the pop-inspired looks of the noughties and 2010s for a cleaner aesthetic. But while subtle details and muted tones make for a good base upon which to build one’s wardrobe, it can be tough to showcase one’s personality amid a sea of grey, beige and brown.

The latest menswear collections strike a happy medium between the understated and the glitzy, with high-octane shades and punchy prints finding their place among old-money looks. The result? A classic sartorial vibe, punctuated with effortless streetwear cool and an emphasis on unique accessories.

Loewe

While most have kept their eye on US actress Zendaya’s looks during the Challengers press tour, another star of the tennis film has quietly made his mark with a series of impactful looks on the red carpet. British actor Josh O’Connor wore a sweater from Loewe’s Fall/Winter 2024 menswear collection at a stop in Los Angeles last month. Paired with black leather trousers and chelsea boots from the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, the sweater’s unique Richard Hawkins-designed print was allowed to shine in all its technicolour glory.

Fendi

The brand’s latest summer collection focuses on its classic Pequin vertical stripe, designed by Karl Lagerfeld in the 1980s. Though originally rendered in black and tobacco, the print has been reimagined in a number of different tones, from yellows to blues, adding a seasonally appropriate energy to bags and jackets.

The collection also includes a vibrant seasonal print, Summer in Roma, inspired by the eponymous city’s sunsets. The relaxed print is given structure and form against the clean lines of Fendi’s iconic shopper, making it an easy transition piece for the man on the go.

Berluti

It’s summertime, and Berluti is taking full advantage of the sunny season to add an element of play in its most recent looks. The brand’s Summer 2024 menswear collection is an ode to lightness and levity: think perforated leather jackets, softly constructed linen suits and slip-on loafers — perfect additions to the wardrobe of any man in Singapore.

Adding a sense of high-spirited charm to this collection of classic pieces are fabrics featuring illustrations of Berluti’s shoes and bags. The self-referential nature of the prints, which appear on shirts in brown and blue, makes for a great “if you know, you know” moment.

Polaroid

With the mercury soaring in recent weeks, a pair of shades has never felt more essential. Trade your plain black aviators for a pair of sunnies from Polaroid — the brand’s latest “Cool” collection provides a stylish, colourful take on classic eyewear.

Frames range in hue from red to green to purple, with both matte and glossy options for lenses. There’s certainly no shortage of variety here; the 6221/S, for instance, mixes a eco-polycarbonate front with metal temples, in a perfect blend of classy and fun. Polaroid’s signature rainbow temple-tips add another subtle flair of personality to each pair of glasses in the collection.

Tom Ford

No conversation about colour in menswear would be complete without inspiration from the 1970s. Enter Tom Ford’s Spring/Summer 2024 menswear collection, a bright, bold and bedazzled affair of blazers and shirts. Pastel-toned blazers with wide lapels are undeniably retro, yet retain some modernity in their crisp tailoring and unique silk-wool blend fabrication.

For the extra-adventurous chap looking to cement his place in the concrete jungle, the collection also boasts a number of leopard-print pieces. Accessories are likewise bold in tone and texture, with crocodile-embossed cardholders and blue suede sneakers among the gems on offer.

Ferragamo

First introduced in Ferragamo’s Pre-Spring 2024 women’s collection, the Fiamma bag has found its way into the brand’s latest menswear offerings. Named after the first daughter of Salvatore and Wanda Ferragamo, the bag’s claim to fame is its asymmetrical front flap.

The latest iteration of the Fiamma, crafted from tumbled calf leather, comes in three shades: black, forest green and azure. While the women’s version features a large, 1980s-inspired gold clasp, the men’s version simply has the maison’s name stamped in gold across the front for a more masculine feel, with the rest of the hardware rendered in a sleek gunmetal tone.

Kenzo

It’s all about big, bold, look-at-me hues for Kenzo’s second collaboration with Japanese visual artist Verdy. Aptly named “Colours”, the collection emphasises primary tones — red, blue and yellow — with youthful silhouettes from oversized t-shirts to zip-up hoodies. Also making an appearance in the collection (in new colourways, of course) are the Kenzo-Pace sneakers, which debuted last year at the brand’s Fall/Winter 2023 show.

Similar to the first collaboration between the house and artist, the Kenzo logo has been reimagined in Verdy’s signature font; the retro-style text is plastered across sweaters, shorts and baseball caps. That graphic quality means pieces from the collection can easily be styled up or down — throw on a blazer and button-down for a quick smart-casual look with a little flair, or wear the pieces on their own for an effortless street ensemble.
