Here is a comprehensive selection of stylish trends from the Autumn/Winter 2020 runways

SKIRT SUITS

This season champions tailored blazers and formal tops with a powerful symbol of femininity: the skirt. Some designers, such as Hugo Boss and Elie Saab, have favoured classic cuts in muted tones while others, like Christian Siriano and Miu Miu, have chosen retro patterns or brighter hues. Either way, the skirt suit has made a strong comeback.

CAPE-TIVATING

Suitable for an afternoon caper or more formal evening wear, capes and cloaks give your strut a little more confidence. While Zuhair Murad and Rahul Mishra have embroidered cloaks that touch the floor, designers such as Carolina Herrera, Chalayan and Giambattista Valli have opted for shorter and more minimalist capes.

INVESTED

Usually worn with a well-tailored suit, vests have taken on a more casual feel this season. Worn buttoned and fitted or loose and open, they are a great way to add a pop of colour or some texture to your look. While brands such as Moncler and Gucci layer vests on contrasting undershirts, Prada’s vest is a statement piece by itself.

DIAMONDS ON THE RUNWAY

Gleaming attire seems to be predominant on men’s runways. From Dior Men’s elaborately bedecked cape to Louis Vuitton’s detailed beadwork, which appears like glittering snow, masculine looks are given more than a hint of sparkle. Even Ann Demeulemeester opts for a lustrous velvet ensemble, which shines just as much as the rest.

PRINT MANIA

Moving away from autumnal colours, the print-on-print trend makes a striking comeback. Comme des Garçons leads the way with numerous mismatched patterns, while distinct yet quirky drawings are embraced by labels like Casablanca and Bode. Junya Watanabe combines a down jacket with plaid to make for an unconventional look.
