After enjoying all the festive goodies, it’s time to burn those extra calories!
SINGAPORE (Jan 10): Now that we have entered into a new year and have thoroughly enjoyed all the festive goodies, it is time to pay a little bit more attention to our bodies and maintain, or move on to, a healthy lifestyle. Plus, the Lunar New Year is just a few more weeks ahead and those who celebrate would definitely want to look their best for that.
One of the best ways to look your best is to have a professional guide to motivate you towards doing all that you need to do. With that in mind, Options has test-driven UFIT’s brand-new integrated health and fitness hub on 21 Club Street, just down the road from Ann Siang Hill.
The integrated hub is a one-stop destination for health and fitness, and unites UFIT’s core offerings of personal training, group exercise, physiotherapy and nutrition under one roof. It even has its own cafe next door. What most people tend to do is clock-in a good workout and then “reward” themselves with a calorie-laden meal, which is counter-productive to their fitness routine.
At UFIT, apart from having a personal trainer who will be customising a workout routine and schedule for you, there is also an in-house nutritionist who would advise you on the foods you should and should not eat in order to achieve your fitness goals.
The problem with eating out while trying to keep fit is that you are not fully aware of what goes into the food that you order. That is why, as part of UFIT’s effort to enhance the entire end-to-end fitness journey, the Club Street hub also comes with a restaurant – Burn – adjacent to the gym. Burn sports a carefully curated F&B menu and features a wood-fire oven for grilled meats and pizza. You can rest assured that the foods served there are of the best quality.
In addition, UFIT’s new integrated hub provides clients with access to sports medicine and a physiotherapist. This is especially helpful for those with previous injuries.
The UFIT hub is optimised for data collection to better aid members in their fitness journeys. One way that UFIT has incorporated technology into its wellness coaching technique is by creating a bespoke online coaching platform that will enable UFit trainers and professionals to better guide and influence clients on their fitness journey. The platform also includes tools such as full-body scanners and health and performance screenings.
The data collected from the platform will give trainers more individual insights into their clients, allowing them to better tailor their offerings and better advise their clients.
Get moving
If you work around the CBD area, you may want to check out several personal training gyms there that have just opened. Here are some that we have spotted.
Ritual
Ritual is famously known as the 30-minute gym. This gym believes that if you do it right (and they will show you how), you can get a safe, high-quality and effective workout in just 30 minutes. The Ritual gym runs small-group training sessions taking a maximum of 10 people per session every half an hour. Plus, you will hardly have an excuse to not work out, because apart from each session being rather short, Ritual also provides you with clothes, towels and toiletries in case you forget to bring your workout gear. The gym also encourages barefoot training, so you can pop by without anything in hand and still get a good workout.

F45
With over 1,500 locations in over 40 countries, the F45 is a chain of personal training gyms that are gaining popularity in Singapore for their intense workouts that have been known to give good results. The “F” in F45 stands for functional training, which means that it is a mixture of circuit and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) style workouts that mimic or re-create everyday movements. In this gym, every training session lasts only 45 minutes. There are up to 11 training classes per day at the Amoy Street outlet, which was named the best F45 studio in Singapore by the gym chain for 2018.

One
With One, age is just a number. This gym believes that no matter how old you are, your fitness goals are achievable. Still very new in Singapore, this gym, which started in Hong Kong, opened its first outlet in Singapore (and its second outlet worldwide) in October 2019. When you sign up at One, you will be signing up for a whole transformation plan of at least 45 days. Another interesting thing about One is that co-founder Joshua Li is very generous with sharing fitness tips in the gym’s blog to help you better achieve your health goals.
