Zero waste cocktails

Flor de Caña

Carbon neutral and fair trade certified rum brand Flor de Caña is set to join forces with eco-conscious bars, restaurants and consumers in more than 30 countries with the return of its Zero Waste Cocktails initiative from now till Sept 15.

In its bid to reduce up to 15 tonnes of food waste globally, the brand has roped in 13 participating local bars and restaurants where drink seekers and environmental advocates can look forward to sipping an array of cocktails made using sustainably produced rum and ingredients derived from repurposed food scraps or leftovers. The cocktails will be centred around the Flor De Caña’s Centenario 12-year Rum — reputed for its exceptional smoothness and expressions of honeyed oak woods, vanilla and toasted nuts.

This year’s participating bars include Fat Prince, Limehouse, Low Tide, MO Bar, Nighthawk, Nutmeg & Clove, Papa Doble, Patina, Set of Six, The Bar @15 Stamford, The Hidden Story, The Landing Point and Tippling Club. A tip: Do book a table at Low Tide on Sept 4, as guest bartenders will be gathering for a final sip of their creations.

It’s Yakiniku Day

The Gyu Bar

Since 1993, Yakiniku Day on Aug 29 has been the official day dedicated to the enjoyment of Japanese barbecue. To commemorate this special occasion, The Gyu Bar is offering an attractive 1-for-1 promotion for their signature Gyu Bar Platter ($98++), available only on Aug 29 for dine-in only.

The Gyu Bar Platter presents an enticing journey of wagyu gastronomy for guests with eight cuts of A5 wagyu selected from Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures. They include sirloin, tenderloin, chuck roll (tokujo karubi), top round (oomomo), short plate (karubi), rump (ichibo), rib finger (nakaochi karubi) and wagyu tongue.

Grilled on smokeless shinpo grills, the premium meats are also served with five condiments such as house-blended yakiniku sauce, sweet soy sauce-based dip, house-made garlic and leek sauce, pink salt, freshly grated wasabi and deep-fried garlic chips.
