Crafted, by Hennessy
When: Now till Jan 26
Where: L4 ION Art gallery, ION Orchard
Cognac stalwart Hennessy is bringing its Crafted, by Hennessy exhibition to Singapore. Taking place at the L4 ION Art gallery, this is the travelling show’s second stop in Asia, coming after an initial launch in Malaysia.
Crafted, by Hennessy brings visitors through the brand’s three centuries of history, from its beginnings with founder Richard Hennessy to the intertwining of his family with the Filliouxs, who would go on to form eight generations of master blenders at the brand.
The exhibition gives a peek into, among others, how cognac is made and blended; there’s also a showcase of limited editions such as Dame-Jeanne, Paradis Unlimited and Edition Particulière — these come in with a total value of EUR1.348 million ($1.9 million).

Hennessy is also bringing Hennessy Kinetic Spring Garden, a light-up installation featuring life-sized flowers, to the L1 Outdoor ION². The brand worked with local artist Pei Li of PeiPer Studio to create this garden-themed display, which takes inspiration from the series of limited-edition Year of the Snake bottles designed by Shuting Qiu.
Massive blooming sculptures, evoking the movements of snakes, form the perfect backdrop for photos, so be sure to get your phones and cameras ready, especially when night falls — the entire display lights up at 8.18pm daily. There’s also an interactive element to Hennessy Kinetic Spring Garden: The scaled steps and flowers start to glow as you approach them.

Spring Blossoms
When: Jan 17 - Feb 23
Where: Gardens by the Bay
To usher in the Year of the Snake, Gardens by the Bay has put together Spring Blossoms, a display set in the Flower Dome.
Presented in collaboration with Chinese landscaping company Beijing Florascape, Spring Blossoms immerses visitors in the world of the Chinese story Legend of the White Snake. The classic tale follows the journey of a man and a snake spirit — the eponymous White Snake, who is portrayed here with a 4.5m-tall floral rendition.
Expect massive yet intricate living sculptures, with more than a thousand dahlias — including five new varieties — on display. The blooms are symbolic of prosperity and new beginnings, making them a staple in Lunar New Year celebrations.
Tickets to Spring Blossoms are available for purchase via Gardens by the Bay’s website at gardensbythebay.com.sg.
The World of Studio Ghibli and Altered States
When: Now till Feb 2
Where: ArtScience Museum
Two of the ArtScience Museum’s exhibitions, The World of Studio Ghibli and Altered States, are set to close on Feb 2. In other words, if you haven’t caught these yet, your last chance is coming soon.
The World of Studio Ghibli is the first exhibition in Singapore to cover works by the famed animation studio. It’s also one of the biggest ever at the museum, with 11 galleries across two floors. Be sure to check out the 16 theatrical sets that depict scenes from Studio Ghibli films, including Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro.
Altered States, meanwhile, features artists and filmmakers from around the world who have used various techniques to experiment with how we perceive film and moving images. Among the works on display are Liquid Solid, by Dutch duo Nicky Assmann and Joris Strijbos, which combines the delicate movements of soap as it freezes and charts the mesmerising process of freezing soap in the sub-Arctic.
While you’re at the ArtScience Museum, be sure to check out its permanent exhibition, Future World, which has been given a new look for the new year. Tickets are available for purchase via Marina Bay Sands’ website at marinabaysands.com/museum.
