FESTIVAL
Singapore’s only film festival dedicated to art
Painting With Light
National Gallery Singapore’s festival of international films on art, Painting with Light, returns for its fourth edition with both on-site and online offerings. From now till July 25, audiences can look forward to a robust lineup of over 50 award-winning and premiering films, and enjoy the hybrid film festival from home or at the gallery.
The festival will be chaptered into seven categories of captivating human stories intertwined with art and insightful filmic explorations into the world of art and its institutions, and bookended by Evenings on the Terrace where audience members can enjoy evening film screenings under the glass canopy of the Supreme Court Terrace.
The festival also introduces a slew of firsts, including its first-ever 3D film showcase, Cunningham by Alla Kovgan, a documentary which traces the artistic development of renowned choreographer Merce Cunningham over three decades and collaborations with artists such as John Cage and Andy Warhol.
For the closing weekend of the festival, audiences can look forward to the newly-commissioned film anthology, Abstractions: Filmic Readings of the Something New Must Turn Up Exhibition. It comprises six filmic readings by Singapore filmmakers on works within its namesake exhibition, which is currently ongoing at the gallery.
All films will be screened on-site, and a selection from the Evenings on the Terrace and Southeast Asian Shorts sections will also be made available for viewing online. In addition to film screenings, festival-goers will be able to participate in a selection of on-site dialogues with filmmakers and gallery curators.

DRINK
Gin-ful of fruits, citrus and herbs
Citadelle Jardin d’été
Known for its botanical-based artisanal gins from Cognac, Citadelle Gin presents the latest addition to its permanent range, Citadelle Jardin d’été, which translates to “summer garden”.
Inspired by a French garden cultivated by the wife of Citadelle founder and master distiller Alexandre Gabriel, Citadelle Jardin d’été (41.5% ABV) is created with the addition of melon flesh, whole lemon, yuzu zest and additional orange peel on top of the 19 botanicals found in Citadelle Original Gin. The blend of fruits, citrus and herbs creates an aromatic experience with a balanced and bright flavour profile that transports us to a fragrant fruit garden in the French countryside.
To truly savour the fresh garden flavours, mix up a gin & tonic with one part Citadelle Gin Jardin d’été and three parts tonic over ice in a large wine glass, garnished with a lemon peel.
Citadelle Jardin d’été ($82) is available at selected Cold Storage and Market Place stores.
