STAY
Ice-cream staycation

Häagen-Dazs X Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Singapore

Häagen-Dazs and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts Singapore are joining forces to create Singapore’s first ice-cream-themed staycation to offer Singapore residents a sweet escape, available from now till Nov 18 at both Shangri-La Singapore and ShangriLa Rasa Sentosa, Singapore.

As part of the Häagen-Dazs Staycation promotion, guests will receive a goodie bag containing a collectible cushion, teddy bear, bath bomb, face mask, coaster set, picnic mat, cooler bag and $20 Häagen-Dazs voucher.

In your room — either a pool-facing Garden Suite at Shangri-La Singapore or Deluxe Sea View Room at Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa — you will also have a personal mini freezer stocked with Häagen-Dazs pints, stickbars and mini cups for all-day indulgence.

On top of that, an in-hotel meal will also include specially selected desserts featuring classic Häagen-Dazs flavours. The Line restaurant at ShangriLa Singapore will serve a modernised version of the classic ice-cream sandwich with Salted Caramel ice-cream sandwiched between two slices of melt-in-your-mouth banana butter cake, topped with a tangy pineapple and vanilla bean compote, fresh strawberries and housemade oatmeal and roasted pecan streusel crumble. At Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, diners will enjoy a poolside treat in the form of an Indulgence Sphere — a ruby chocolate sphere containing scoops of Coffee, Belgian Chocolate, Vanilla and Caramel Biscuit and Cream flavours, topped with a melty Valrhona Chocolate Raspberry Ganache.

A two day, one night Häagen-Dazs Staycation starts from $499 at Shangri-La Singapore, and $599 at Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, inclusive of complimentary breakfast for two. Bookings can be made on Klook

PLAY
Virtual horror-mystery game play

Murder at Old Changi Hospital

Gear up for a spooky Halloween with thrilling interactive horror-mystery play Murder at Old Changi Hospital. Written by award-winning playwright Chong Tze Chien, the highly-anticipated sequel following last year’s Murder at Mandai Camp brings genre-defining interactive escape room gameplay to Singapore’s most haunted hospital.

What is special about this is that the audience-participants take on the role as primary paranormal investigators and will work together with cast members to uncover the events leading up to the alleged murder of young canteen worker Farah Aiyah (played by Munah Bagharib), and the disappearance of the four Commandos associated with the victim in 1996.

The hunt unfolds in a non-linear format with its flow completely determined by viewers. No two playthroughs will be the same as the choose-your-own-adventure mechanic allows for freedom of exploration with every choice determining what can and cannot be viewed.

Viewers who solve the mystery within 90 mins stand a chance to win the Grand Prize of a two day, one night stay at Shangri-La Singapore’s Valley Wing (worth $1,500++). To elevate your experience, viewers will get to watch video footage and flashbacks in 360-degree video format heightened by Augmented Reality (AR) interactions and spatial audio surround sound.

Murder at Old Changi Hospital will run till Jan 2, every Friday to Sunday, 8.30pm and 10pm. Tickets are priced at $45 per entry (per device) with options for clue and time extension add-ons via TheFutureStage.com.

DRINK
Tipple from top South Korean bars

MO Bar

Drink vicariously through MO Bar at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore for the month of September as it features a creative selection of cocktails from top bars in South Korea as part of its Nomadic Cocktail Odyssey. These four bars which also happen to be Asia’s 50 Best Bars include Zest, Alice Cheongdam, Pine & Co. and Bar Cham.

Using alcohol brands under the Remy Cointreau group, each Korean bar has submitted a recipe to MO Bar for its Singapore guests to sample, which include Soy Caramel from Zest (Wild Turkey Bourbon, Mount Gay Black Barrel, soy, Muscovado sugar and salted caramel cookie); Mela Rosa from Alice Cheongdam (Remy Martin VSOP, 5 spices, walnut and baked apple), Nuruk from Pine & Co. (Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2021, Nuruk, malt and white koji), and Jeju Boulevardier from Bar Cham (Wild Turkey Bourbon, Campari, Solomon’s Seal, tangerine and sweet vermouth.)

Of the four, our faves are the Mela Rose, a spicy concoction that is surprisingly addictive; and Nuruk, a barley-malt blend enhanced by the smokiness of charred barley.

Nomadic Cocktail Odyssey series: South Korea will be available throughout September at the bar and for takeaway, for $22 each. For reservations, call 6885 3500.
