These new watches come with amazing movements, a sprinkling of gems and specially-made bracelets
Ball Watch
Three new limited edition watches are launched by Ball Watch and in their continued fight against Covid-19, the reimagined Engineer III Marvelight Chronometer is the focus. The watch carries the “Caring” edition colour scheme inspired by the rainbow and features gas tubes at every index. These tubes produce superior brightness that lasts 25 years and is 100 times brighter than conventional luminous paints.
The model comes with a COSC-certified chronometer movement, protected by the Amortiser anti-shock system and is water-resistant to up to 100m/330sqft. The Engineer III Marvelight Chronometer is available in 40 and 43mm, with a blue, black or silver dial.
Blancpain
Going green is the message by Blancpain as it launches the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback model in green. Divers will be pleased to know that the timepiece now has a chronograph version swathed in green from dial to bezel.
The heartbeat of the Manufacture F385 calibre can be viewed through a sapphire crystal caseback. The self-winding chronograph movement beats at a frequency of 5 Hz, enabling each second to be divided into 1/10th intervals. This high-frequency guarantees increased accuracy, particularly when timing events. The F385 movement is equipped with a vertical clutch and a chronograph mechanism controlled by a column-wheel. It has a flyback function that enables the chronograph to be reset to zero and restarted instantaneously by simply pressing the push-piece located at 4 o’clock.
The new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Chronograph Flyback comes in a 43.6 mm satin-brushed black ceramic case topped by a rotating bezel featuring a green ceramic insert. It is paired with a NATO or sail canvas strap.
Hermès
The iconic Hermès scarf that was imagined by Swiss artist Fred Rawyler is reinterpreted as a gleaming graphic design to create a fascinating depth and effect of light to the timepiece. The end result is like a burst of sunshine on the dial and is thus aptly named Arceau Soleil.
Sunbeams radiating across a subtle chiaroscuro gradient accentuate the path of the slender hands, in an endlessly mesmerising geometry. The diamond hours markers, set into the sapphire crystal, create the illusion of levitating above the dial, while a translucent lacquer in shades of blue or grey swathes the engraved motif in an aura of mystery. The exquisitely light gem-set steel case of this elegant watch is paired with an alligator strap.
Omega
The elegant Omega Trésor line has three new additions that women will adore. The new 36 mm models come with cases that are crafted entirely from 18K MoonshineTM gold that was first introduced in 2019. This alloy was inspired by the moonlight in a dark blue sky offers a paler hue than traditional 18K yellow gold.
Another new design women will embrace is the mesh bracelets that are crafted to look like silk. The watches come with a full five-year warranty and are offered in 18K MoonshineTM gold dial featuring an embossed silk pattern and Roman numerals; with a white dial, featuring embossed Roman numerals in 18K MoonshineTM gold and 18K white gold rhodium-plated dial, fully paved with a snow setting of 768 single-cut diamonds. The heartbeat of the watch is the Omega Calibre 4061 that sits behind polished mirror casebacks that are embellished by a unique metalised pattern.
Chopard
Precious as the gems it uses, the “Magari” automatic jewellery watch from the Red Carpet Collection stands as testimony to Chopard’s love for the most beautiful of all diamonds drawn from Earth’s natural bounty. With sustainability in mind, co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele celebrates the wonders of Nature through 73 Haute Joaillerie creations to honour the 73rd Cannes Film Festival which should have been held in 2020.
The “Magari” jewellery watch pays tribute to exceptional gemstones that adorn the dial of this 40-hour power reserve automatic timepiece with a subtle corolla of pear-shaped diamonds totalling over 32 carats. Respectively set at 12 and 6 o’clock, a vivid pink and a vivid blue pear-shaped diamond weigh- ing two carats each enhance this timepiece with an aura of purity and nobility. They have been specially selected for their brilliance and unique colours, high- lighted by their association with the white diamonds with which the rest of this jewellery watch is wrapped in.
Ressence
This year to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary the Ressence Type 5X is launched. At the centre of the design is the fusion of an X, or 10 in Latin, and an hourglass. It sits on the hour disc of the Type 5X. Each of the four watches in Collection X is limited to 40 pieces in dark olive-green colour. The bezel on the Type 5X is related to the collaboration with Automobili Amos and the functioning of the turbos. The bezel is divided into two distinct parts. The first one is dedicated to the warm-up of the engine (15 min) — the S stands for Start, D for Drive and R for Race — while the other one is dedicated to the cooling of the Turbos (10 min).
The dial and sub-dials have also evolved to be more car-oriented and inspired by the Lancia Delta Futurista graphics. Type 5 was a world first, allowing divers to read time underwater and now developed for race car drivers.
