SINGAPORE (Nov 6): Leonard Lee kicked off his career in the IT industry as an analyst programmer at a financial institute. In his first two years, he was tasked to write code that was not only bug-free but also secure. “This sparked my interest in cybersecurity,” he says, and led him to request to join the company’s information security team.

Since then, Lee has continued to build his capabilities in the field. This year, he signed up for the Cyber Security Associates and Technologists Programme. The one-year CSAT programme is a joint initiative by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore and the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) to train and upskill fresh ICT professionals and mid-career professionals for cybersecurity roles.

“The job, the trainings and courses so far have allowed me to know and learn more, which is exactly what I wanted from the CSAT programme,” says Lee. “It’s really a good opportunity for people who are interested in learning and taking up cybersecurity roles. A year might seem short, but you can really learn and achieve a lot in this short time.”
