SINGAPORE (May 25): As parents in Singapore grow wealthier, more of them are signing up for what has been hailed as potential “lifesaver” – cord blood banking.

Cord blood banking is typically sold as a form of “biological insurance”, says Michael Weiss, CEO of locally-listed Cordlife Group.

“It’s like many types of insurance. You hope you never have to use it. But if you need it, the benefit is beyond words. The intention is to expand the number of medical options a family would have if something goes wrong in the future,” he adds.
