SINGAPORE (Sept 27): For the third year in a row, Singapore has topped HSBC’s Expat Explorer report as the best destination in the world to live, work, and raise a family abroad – ahead of Norway and New Zealand at the second and third places, respectively.

The 10th edition of the survey was completed by 27,587 expatriates (expats) residing in 159 countries and territories this year via an online questionnaire in March and April 2017. This was conducted by YouGov and commissioned by HSBC Expat, a provider of expat financial services and the trading name of HSBC Bank.

In a press release on Wednesday, HSBC says its survey also found that life abroad has also typically increased global expats’ income by 25%, with the average expat earning slightly under US$100,000 ($135,580) a year.
