SINGAPORE (Aug 8): Malaysian streaming provider iflix today announced the completion of a US$133 million ($181 million) funding round, which brings its total funding raised in the current year to an excess of US$220 million.

iflix provides subscription video on demand (SVoD) services similar to its American rival Netflix, and covers Southeast Asia as well as other emerging markets.

The streaming provider recently unveiled its first exclusive original production, Oi Jaga Mulut, which debuted in Malaysia last week. Its regional unit, iflix Philippines, also intends to collaborate with Filipino media personality Kris Aquino to commission an original drama series.
