SINGAPORE (March 27): Top Glove Corporation’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Top Glove Sdn Bhd (TGSB), last Friday entered into an agreement with Japan’s Fimatec to establish a joint venture (JV) with the purpose of engaging in the business of manufacturing rubber reinforcing agent for use in the manufacturing of gloves.

In an announcement on Monday, Top Glove says the JV is a long-term investment plan for the group to “reduce overall glove production cost, improve glove quality and production efficiency through the supply of good and consistent quality of rubber reinforcing agent”.

Upon completion of the agreement, Techniglove Asia Sdn Bhd – which operates under Top Glove’s subsidiary Medi-Flex Limited – will be renamed to TG FMT Sdn Bhd “in due course”, and is expected to commence business by 1Q18.
