SINGAPORE (May 13): Lema Home stood out at the recent Salone Internazionale Del Mobile, the annual furniture trade fair that showcases the latest in furniture and design from all over the world.
Lema amazed visitors at the fair in Milan last month with its style and aesthetic design. As with its previous designs, collaborations with talented designers were the highlight of the new collections. This year, Lema worked with new talents for the fi rst time — they included Piero Lissoni, David Lopez Quincoces, Chiara Andreatti, Gordon Guillaumier, Francesco Rota, Leonardo Dainelli and Andrea Mancuso.
For this issue, we will focus on Quincoces. The Spanish-born designer, who is based in Milan, began his career with Piero Lissoni and collaborated on numerous interior design and architecture projects. Today, he runs his own studio, Quincoces-Dragò & Partners, which specialises in architecture, graphics, interior and industrial design.
At the Salone Internazionale Del Mobile, Quincoces showcased his new collection for Lema: the LT40, a unique and customisable system of containers and wall elements designed in four possible confi gurations: freestanding; wall; suspended; and the W Line wooden version, with three-dimensional ribbed graphics achieved by a complex hand-worked process.
These four families can be mixed and matched together to create your own design. Match this with other design elements such as double-faced containers, benches and housing for multi-media equipment; shelves and panelling with structural frames in aluminium — adjustable and designed for wall mounting; trays and tops in marble or stone; container boxes in wood or glass; and built-in LED lamp systems.
The customisation of LT40 is also refl ected in the wide range of fi nishes available: wood, lacquer, glass, clay and natural and reconstructed marble. The structure is in grey velvet, an innovative ultra-matt material that is velvety to the touch, yet durable.
